simple isn't that simple

For some reason, people think that a creating a 'good' website if you will, involves adding as much flash and glitz as possible. Designers equate clutter with eye-catching, which they in turn equate to higher web-revenue.

I couldn't disagree more. First off, I think one of the more difficult aspects of design involves keeping the layout simple. There are mental and physical advantages to this approach and one would be remiss to ignore them.

Keeping a website simple makes your site load faster. Who doesn't want their website to load as fast as possible? If that's the case, why then are you loading it down with tons of graphics?
